Vahram Ter-Matevosyan, Dr.Phil, is the Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) and a Full Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at the American University of Armenia. He joined AUA in 2011 and has since taught both graduate and undergraduate courses. He previously served as Program Chair of the Political Science and International Affairs Program (2018–2022) and as Assistant to the President for Academic Affairs (2023–2024). Dr. Ter-Matevosyan earned his doctorate in history from the University of Bergen, Norway, with a focus on modern Turkish political thought. He also holds an M.A. in East and Southeast Asian Studies from Lund University, Sweden, and a Candidate of Historical Sciences degree from the Institute of Oriental Studies at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. Throughout his career, he held visiting professorship positions at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He was appointed Associate Dean in July 2025. His academic interests lie at the intersection of political history, international relations, and security studies, with a particular focus on Armenia, Turkey, and the broader South Caucasus region. He is the author of three monographs and the co-author of two books. His research has been published in edited volumes by Routledge and Springer, as well as in top disciplinary journals. He has presented his research at numerous international conferences and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and policy forums. Dr. Ter-Matevosyan also contributes to public discourse on regional affairs and is frequently invited to speak on issues related to conflict, diplomacy, and regional security. His academic and administrative roles are driven by a commitment to fostering critical inquiry, interdisciplinary scholarship, and global academic engagement.
