The American University of Armenia (AUA) invites applications for the position of Director of Admissions.

The University: The American University of Armenia is a privately endowed, independent American institution of higher education affiliated with the University of California. Located in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia, it has an enrollment of 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students. It is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, 985 Atlantic Avenue, #100, Alameda, CA 94501, (510) 748-9001.

The Director of Admissions: The Director of Admissions will provide leadership and coordination of work in the Office of Admissions and will report directly to the Provost. This is a complex administrative position. AUA seeks a candidate with communications, team work, internal and external networking abilities, administrative abilities, and fluency in English.  The person must be creative, resourceful, and capable of working under pressure and meeting application and admissions deadlines. 

The Director of Admissions will effectively manage the undergraduate and graduate admissions process, working with the academic programs, the Undergraduate Admissions Committee, and the Graduate Admissions Committee to provide a holistic review of applicants.  Most importantly, the Director of Admissions will have a passion for helping young people find a transformative educational experience at AUA.

These administrative duties will include the effective management of new admissions technologies, applicant communication, close work with the Office of Communications, and international student recruitment. Most importantly, the Director will work to build an admissions team in the Office of Admissions, including the recruitment, supervision, development, and promotion of team members. The Director will have financial service abilities in both the development and management of the admissions budget.

Qualifications:   At a minimum, candidates must have an earned Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, preferably, but not necessarily, from a management field: business administration, public administration, marketing, higher education administration, etc.

 

Leading candidates will have demonstrated their ability to administrate and manage complex tasks in complex organizations.  The leading candidate will have supervisory and team building experience, experience in product and/or service delivery, demonstrated experience in internal and external networking, experience in delivering effective public presentations, financial management and time management experience, and a demonstrated record of creativity and innovation. Most importantly, the leading candidate must have a passion for the mission of the American University of Armenia and student success. Experience in an international setting and knowledge of Armenia is preferred.

 

Requirement:  This full-time position requires the incumbent to reside in Armenia.
