AUA’s Meghrigian Institute Conducts Free Eye Exams for Yerevan’s Elderly on World Sight Day

AUA’s College of Health Sciences marked World Sight Day this year by conducting eye exams at two retirement homes in Yerevan through the college’s Garo Meghrigian Institute for Preventative Ophthalmology.

The screenings, held on October 11, were made available to the more than 550 residents at Yerevan’s Retirement Home #1 and the Nork Retirement Home and included a free ophthalmic consultation from Meghrigian Institute ophthalmologists.

Screened patients will receive appropriate medical treatment and eyeglasses from the institute if diagnosed with eye disease or refractive problems.

World Sight Day is an international day of awareness, held annually on the second Thursday of October, to concentrate attention on the global issue of avoidable blindness and visual impairment.
