Program background

Waste Policy Armenia is a 4-year Program aimed at improving Armenia’s waste management sector capacity to implement more environmentally sound waste management practices through:

  1. Providing technical assistance to RA Government in developing and adopting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation for several specific waste streams in line with EU Waste legislation and best practices (Program Component 1);
  2. Providing technical assistance to RA Government in developing a national model on waste source separation and introducing it as a system in a pilot municipality (Program Component 2);
  3. Building sector capacities to implement Component 1 and Component 2, as well as to scale up the achieved results (Program Component 3).

 

The Program supports the implementation of several provisions set in the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between EU and RA, as well as several provisions regarding “Waste management strategy and its implementation action plan” of the RA Government Program for 2021-2026.

The Program’s principal partners and beneficiaries are the RA Ministry of Environment (MoE), RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (MTAI), Sevan Municipality and other municipalities to be selected from Kotayk or Gegharkunik provinces.

 

Scope of work

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, and guidance of Program Coordinator and Grants Manager, the Administrative Assistant shall:

  • Provide complete administrative support for the Program activities;
  • Write letters, maintain contacts with Program stakeholders and coordinate external and internal communications flows;
  • Assist and participate in the preparation of progress reports, Program completion reports (narrative and financial), audit and evaluation/internal control reports and other reporting documents that may be required by the Program stakeholders, Sida or AUA;
  • Handle all organizational, logistics, event organization, contracting and procurement processes of the Program in accordance with Sida and AUA policies;
  • Keep all records and documents of the Program, prepare timesheets;
  • Support all activities relating to the Program’s sub-granting activities, if any, including pre- and post-sub-grant administration;
  • Help to create and implement an effective communication strategy for the Program that will include media outreach, if necessary, preparation and dissemination of communication materials and social media content creation;
  • Assist in organizing periodical work sessions, events and internal work meetings for the team and external stakeholders;
  • Provide support in preparation of the Program webpage and maintain it;
  • Complete other administration-related tasks as assigned by the Director of the Acopian Center for the Environment.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications or related field;
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a relevant field;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of basic financial reports/cost reporting preparation;
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications, including word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Experience working with G-Suite applications (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Armenian and English;
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments; and
  • Strong sense of ethics and an excellent team-player.
