IMPORTANT TEST INFORMATION

About the test

Here is all you need to know about the test:

  • The test will contain questions on topics that are covered during the last four years of high school, based on RA mathematics curriculum. These topics fall into the following seven categories: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Functions, Vectors, and Sets.
  • The test will contain 40 multiple-choice questions of different levels of difficulty.
  • The duration of the test is 90 minutes.
  • The language of the test is either Armenian or English. The applicant will have the opportunity to choose his or her preferred language at the start of the test. Note that the choice of language has absolutely no bearing on test scores.
  • The test is computer-based, and will be administered on the AUA campus.
  • Correct answers are worth plus one (+1) point, while incorrect answers are worth minus one fourth (-1/4) of a point; in effect, there is no penalty for guessing, although wrong answers are penalized. Answers left blank are worth zero (0) points.

The test is free of charge; however, each prospective student is permitted to take the test no more than two times.

Preparing for the test

To prepare for the test, begin by reviewing the math material that was covered during your high-school education. You may then start training by solving some sample questions. Some of the questions may be similar to (but not the same as) SAT questions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is just a sample. You will not see any of these questions in an actual test. The questions in the sample should only serve as a guideline to the type of questions you may encounter. Not all question types are covered in this sample.

The answer key to the sample test is available here: AUA Sample Math Test – Answer Key
